Good evening NAGO members and followers. As many are aware a call to action for LB764, to move us over to “Winner Take All” was released this afternoon.
Many have messaged and called us in response to this call to action. Before we jump on the bandwagon, it is important to assess all the facts and needs of Nebraskans.

While this is an honorable call to action. It fails to acknowledge several realities here in Nebraska.
First, we have only 6 days left of the session.
We have barely the time needed to even hear all the priority bills. Arch has already stated they have a full schedule, and even priority bills won’t make it to the floor if they can’t show enough support on the vote card BEFORE debate.
Second, LB575 (Sports & Spaces) hangs in the balance. It’s been shared that LB575 is intended to be scheduled for the LAST day of the session. If we interject another crusade, we will likely lose LB575 in the process.
Third, Governor Pillen has little to no input on the schedule of bills. Other than the few bills he had personal reasons for testifying, Pillen is not heavily involved in the Legislature and would not be able to force the hand of the unicameral. His support is appreciated, but it is not likely to change anything.

Fourth, LB764 has been stuck in committee since the last session. At this point, any other bill would be considered dead in the committee. Several senators have confirmed that deduction. It’s been reported that the bill was deadlocked with a 4-4 vote. Our guess on that vote:

Lastly, which leaves us with the attempt to have LB764 attached as an amendment to Sen. Brewers election committee bill. The committee election bill is already a travesty, and we can be very certain Brewer will not allow a hostile amendment (meaning it doesn’t have guaranteed support) to risk the passage of his bill.
Even if we get LB764 passed through committee or introduced as an amendment, we do not currently have the 33 votes needed to defeat cloture. At that point, we could attempt to sway a few more votes, but the likelihood is slim to none. In the process, this bill will be filibustered by the democrats and precious time will be lost on other very important issues.
We have yet to get to Sports & Spaces, Duty to Retreat, Arming School Staff, the homeschool bill, Birthing Rights, eliminating fluoridated water, and many many others that we have supported throughout the session. The legislature is also likely to end up in a special session to address the supposed “property tax relief” that Governor Pillen has promised.
Our goal is not to discourage the will of the people. We aim to be honest, transparent, and fully informed on the issues that affect Nebraskans. If you wish to participate in this call to action, absolutely do so.
You can view the full call to action from TPUSA here: https://www.tpaction.com/WIN and https://alignact.com/go/WIN
NAGO will be focusing on supporting the local issues we have already prioritized for this session. Thank you all for your time as we fight for the preservation of our liberties for all Nebraskans!

Encourage the scheduling of LB575: https://atomic-temporary-189165296.wpcomstaging.com/2024/03/28/legislative-recap-bills-passed-arch-speech-hearing-update/
LB1248 and LB388, the current tax bills on the floor need major adjustments. The proposal to reduce property taxes, increase sales tax, and eliminate certain exemptions is not all that it cracks up to be. If there are no satisfactory amendments in the next round, mass email/call campaigns will be needed to oppose this legislation.
In conjunction with this debate, many digs have been taken at EPIC Option. The very arguments made against EPIC will be the consequences of the current proposal. It would be best to encourage the senators to go to a special session and take the time to propose a better plan for tax relief in Nebraska.
