Douglas County Sheriff Endorsement

Nebraskans Against Government Overreach is proud to kick off this Monday morning with our endorsement to Aaron Hanson for Douglas County Sheriff! For years NAGO and other Liberty-Minded groups/individuals have sought out discussion with the former Sheriff of Douglas County only to never see that discussion take place… however, NAGO and our many Omaha area members have seen qualities and actions that leave us confident in Aaron’s accessibility and dedication to serving We the People! Aaron has shown a sincere desire to bridge the gap, ask the hard questions, and provide a safe community for our children and future generations! A Vote for Aaron Hanson on May 10th is a vote for strength, accountability, and transparency for all of Douglas County! AaronHansonForSheriff.com

    1. Yes we did. He is in support of constitutional carry, he does support Omaha still requiring ppl to register their firearms within city limits, but he does wish LB773 had passed.

The reason he still supports the registration is for identifying stolen weapons. Currently with handguns, they have about 70% of the serial numbers from registered handguns that are retrieved. When it comes to other weapons or long rifles, that drops dramatically to 30%. That being said, with the higher rate of gun thefts in Omaha, it does in fact make sense. And, again is only enforceable if you’ve committed a crime while conceal carrying – essentially, it allows them to actually charge criminals. If you’re peaceful, Respectful, and full law abiding, it isn’t an issue.

Lastly, I want to mention the appreciation for his strong support of educating from a young age on proper gun use and safety. If we educated our society through school, we’d likely see a major reduction in criminal activity that does cause people (not Hanson) to desire more legal red tape.
