LB1249 Hansen, B. Change provisions of the Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Act
https://www.nebraskalegislature.gov/FloorDocs/107/PDF/Intro/LB1249.pdf

This bill is a long one. Please feel free to take the time to go through it if you desire. The Holistic Health Council reached out to us via our Seward Leader upon notice of LB1249. The main concern is that the language of this bill could be a disaster for unlicensed healthcare practitioners like health coaches, holistic nutritionists, Personal trainers and fitness coaches etc.

LB 1249 would be a complete overhaul of the dietetics licensure law. At first glance it greatly expands what it means to practice Medical Nutrition Therapy, and changes how terms like “non-medical nutrition” is defined, “nutrition counseling,” and “medicalize” all forms of weight loss.

Jonathan Posey, executive Director of the council of holistic health educators (wwwholisticcouncil.org) believes there are serious issues with this bill and that the bill needs amended. He’s done a deep dive analysis and will be helping us best address this issue in the hopes of Preserving Health Freedom!

  1. Thanks Allie. Can you tell me if LR268CA Briese Constitutional amendment to provide for recall of the Governor or a member of the Legislature includes our U.S. representatives. I am appalled that the most we can do is a censure when our Representatives do not represent our interests.
