Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs
This hearing will operate under annotated committee guidelines
Room 1507 – 1:30 PM

Upcoming are both bills for Winner Take All. Our group will continue to remain neutral on this legislation. We understand there is a lot of support coming from the Republican Party, and many of our members agree that there are also many of our members and friends who disagree to varying degrees.
We acknowledge both the good and bad. We consider the potential short-term and long-term outcomes. There’s been a lengthy discussion about the original intent of the electoral college and the reality of the current political landscape.
At this time, it seems reasonable to lend greater support towards the Constitutional Amendment as it would put it to a vote of the people should it be passed by the Legislature.

If you want your baby to be tested, then that is also your choice!

Rules debate wrapped up this week, and we were thrilled to see the 3 rules changes that passed were among our supported rules changes! Kauth rule change #22 was passed! It was amended from the original and lost most of its teeth, but it’s a good first step to implementing positive changes that require accountability and transparency from our senators.

In other Nebraska news,

Governor Pillen has signed an Executive Order backing up President Trumps order on Illegal Immigrants.

It’s important to keep in mind that Trump’s order is specific to CRIMINAL illegal immigrants. Only the illegal immigrants that were arrested and released during the Biden Administration are targets of this order. Many people have taken to the community boards falsely reporting ICE presence and riling up communities unnecessarily.

On the issue of citizen birthrights, the 14th Amendment was passed to ensure that newly freed slaves in the US were given citizenship status. Their ancestors had been imported to the colonies since the 1500s by mostly Portueguese, Spanish, and British slave traders. To twist that amendment into an open invitation for more human trafficking and auto citizenship for the children born after their parents’ illegal entry into our nation is total disrespect for freed slaves and willful misunderstanding of the Amendment. The supremacy clause of the Constitution gives authority to Congress to establish immigration laws, not secessionist, nullifying states, or unConstitutional doctrine. The key phrase in the amendment is “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” If the parents haven’t been approved for full citizenship by our laws and consent of the governed for legal entry, they are subject to the jurisdiction of their home countries. There is no birthright citizenship in the US, no matter how many times revisionists have asserted otherwise.
