More Information:
Tenure at postsecondary educational institutions have been used all too often to ignore the indecent or inappropriate behavior of professors. It has also been used to protect these educators that utilize their position to indoctrinate students with leftist, often socialist viewpoints.

Eliminating tenure would bring back accountability and transparency in our states secondary educational institutions.

OPPOSE: LB1042
Introducer: Fredrickson
Description: Change provisions relating to registering to vote

* If you cannot join us in person, please submit online testimony, comments must be submitted by Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 at 8:00 AM! *

Download the Bill Introduction and Submit an Online Comment here:
https://nebraskalegislature.gov/bills/view_bill.php?DocumentID=5531

More Information:
Statement of Intent – LB1042 requires that voter registration applications through the Department of Motor Vehicles be designed so that the elector’s information is transmitted automatically to the election commissioner or county clerk unless the elector specifies on the form. . that they do not want to register to vote or update their voter registration record. This creates an opt-out registration process for individuals and removes the requirement to opt-in. LB1042 also provides for other efficiencies related to the transfer of voter registration information between the Department of Motor Vehicles, county election officials and the Secretary of State.
• The registration of voters should remain an opt-in process.
• LB1042 risks registering ineligible voters

Health and Human Services
Room 1510 – 1:30 PM

OPPOSE: LB1278
Introducer: McKinney
Description: Provide for reimbursement of doula and full spectrum doula services under the Medical Assistance Act

* If you cannot join us in person, please submit online testimony, comments must be submitted by Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 at 8:00 AM! *

LB 1278 Talking Points:
1. The bill as written separate doulas from full-spectrum doulas. A full spectrum doula is traditionally one that also provides all range of services, including abortion support. This bills glazes over that.
2. Section 2 Paragraph 4 “compliment the role of  healthcare professional”. Doulas are not hired to complement the healthcare professional, they’re there to support the family and women exclusively and as an independent support.
3. Under this bill, a Doula looses the right to arrange her own pricing and is left at the hands of the insurance companies and government. Insurance companies are well known for low-balling doulas and midwives, causing them to loose hundreds of dollars.
4. Regulations around doulas are vague in this bill. Clarification would be at the discrepancy of the insurance companies, hospitals, government.  When any other entity dictates the role of Doula, this robs the woman and family of the power in her birthing journey.
5. This bill also ties the hand of the Doula and keeps her from providing the woman the care that she hired.
6. Providing insurance reimbursement would tie the doula into redtape, thus not being able to serve women effectively, limit the time spent with the family, and further limit the number of women a doula could take. Essentially, doulas become just like medical professionals, over burdened with documentation, time restraints, and keeping within the boundaries dictated by insurance companies.
7. The bill reads full spectrum Doulas must have training or certification, but it doesn’t give specifics. This  means it would be determined by the government, the hospital, or the insurance company.
8. This bill believe it will provide collaborative care, in reality it will own the doulas, forcing them to side with medical staff, rather than providing independent information and guidance to woman and families.
9. This is a government overreach to begin controlling the Doulas, and possibly reaching to unlicensed birth attendants/lay midwives.

Remember the Dark 700 Days in Lincoln where Mayor Leiron, Nurse Lopez, and Lancaster Health abused their authority to impose a (useless) mask mandate on everyone? Or in Omaha, David City, Fremont, and a few others…

Want to stop that from happening again?

Please support this bill by Senator Clements which would put counties under the authority of State HHS in the case of statewide or multi state pandemics. It still allows authority with local outbreaks, so they maintain local authority when it’s sensible to do so.
