Kearney Overreaches on the 2nd Amendment

🚨🚨 CALL TO ACTION: KEARNEY, NE 🚨🚨

Backstory:
On October 10, 2023, the Kearney City Council approved an incredibly restrictive resolution (No. 2023-149) that infringed on not only the 2nd Amendment but on any weapon that could be used for self-defense. Only 3 council members were present. The resolution was buried with other items and passed unanimously under a consent agenda.

During the November Buffalo County GOP meeting, Mayor Clouse was confronted about the resolution. Subsequently, the city of Kearney issued a press release stating that they felt it was necessary to pass a resolution because of LB77. However, the ONLY purpose of the resolution was to reaffirm that the city would continue to post signs concerning weapons in city buildings. (Read the resolution). Now, they want to amend the resolution since the public may “misinterpret” or get “confused”.

🚨🚨 TAKE ACTION: 🚨🚨

🚨 On Tuesday, November 28th, at 5:30 pm, this resolution will be on the agenda for the city council. I would ask every 2nd Amendment supporter to show up to encourage the city council to “RESCIND NOT AMEND” resolution No. 2023-149. 🚨

If they “snuck” this resolution with only 3 city council members present, buried under a consent agenda, what else will they do? Keep them accountable. RESCIND NOT AMEND!
