Legislature Fails to Eliminate Secret Ballots

The Legislature fell short on the vote to eliminate secret ballots for the election of speaker, executive chair, and vice chair, as well as committee chairs.

Just think if the 5 ‘RePuBlIcAnS’ that voted against transparency at the Legislature had voted in favor, we’d have a rule Change that actually strengthens the accountability between the first house and the second house – We the People!

It’s early in the session, and these votes likely indicate where we’ll see our representatives fall on every controversial issue. Stay involved and contact your representatives!!!

The Legislature has adjourned for the day. 6 final bills were introduced after yesterday’s deadline at the request of the governor.

As mentioned yesterday was the final deadline for legislators to submit new legislation. At the end of the day, 131 new bills had been introduced. NAGO admins are working through them and will highlight bills through the upcoming weeks as they’re scheduled for a public hearing.
