Candidate Assessment: Bacon, Don (R)

NAGO Assessment:

1. Must be Peaceful, Respectful and Fully Law Abiding (#1 Rule of NAGO) – Not to be confused with complying to tyrannical or overreaching law.
PASS.

2. Supports and Participates in NAGO Calls to Action
FAIL. Many NAGO Leaders and Members have attempted to engage this elected official with very little positive to say. Bacon has never displayed any level of interest in NAGO efforts or calls to action.

3. Supports Individual Freedoms
FAIL. In communication with many NAGO Leaders, Members and Nebraska Constituents Bacon has made it very clear that he Supports Vaccine Mandates. He will draw a correlation to mandates within military service, equating vaccination with service to one’s country. Many are frustrated as Bacon continues to vote on legislation that Erodes our Freedoms.

4. Supports and Participates with Liberty Minded NE Grassroots Efforts – Team Player
PASS/FAIL. Bacon does support his friends. For those that find themselves as Bacon’s friend, he will stay loyal to you even above donor interests. Fortunately, Bacon has many Liberty Minded individuals in and around him everyday.

5. Attends Local Meetings
PASS/FAIL. Bacon attends private, elitist, and/or GOP related events. He does not stick around to talk to constituents and those that manage to get his attention are not likely to get more than a minute or two of his time.

6. Presents a Sense of Patriotism
FAIL. Listening to Bacon speak often leaves people feeling disturbed or irritated. They never quite receive the explanation they are looking for.

7. Outspoken/Well-spoken on Inalienable Rights
FAIL. There have been many opportunities to hear from Bacon over the last few years and we have yet to experience a memorable message where he instills our confidence in guarding our inalienable rights.

8. Doesn’t Cater to False Narratives
FAIL. Bacon has pandered to the covid-19 pandemic throughout it’s entirety. While he never gave anyone grief at a GOP event, he wore his UNMC and Creighton mask proudly and boasts about the “safety and efficacy” of the shot. He refuses to acknowledge the potential for fraud within NE election systems, holding full belief that Douglas and Sarpy County are as blue as the past two elections would lead us to believe.

9. Acts/Serves/Talks/Promises in the Best Interest of Others – Type of Leader
FAIL. Bacon serves his friends and benefactors. Bacon does not have the desire to address the concerns of each and every Nebraskan or constituent. There is no explanation, we should just trust that he means well.

10. Prior Involvement/Achievements in Liberty Minded Efforts or Government
FAIL.
Bacon has been good to the High School and Young Republicans groups and in kind they do wonderful work for him door knocking, making phone calls, and walking in parades.

SCORE: 2/10

Summary of Candidate

Don Bacon is a weak conservative. Many of his actions, while politically understandable, do not uphold the values and efforts of NAGO. While many feel that to participate you must play the game, we value those who do not violate what is constitutional. Bacon has many solid liberty-minded individuals working within in camps, unfortunately, there’s little if any reflection of that when serving his constituents.
